FUSD School Community,
As we begin to experience high winds and precautionary power outages, the Fillmore Unified School District is prepared to keep all schools open.
The safety of our students and staff remains our priority and we are prepared to provide a safe and supportive learning environment for all members of our school community. The following measures will be implemented in the event we experience power outages.
Generators are deployed to schools to operate school offices for communication purposes. Each school will maintain office phone operations.
The Child Nutrition Services Department will serve all students breakfast and lunch.
Site custodians and the Maintenance, Operations, and Transportation staff will monitor all school grounds throughout the day and each morning before school begins.
Wind and air quality will be monitored, and outdoor activities will be adjusted, as necessary.
Indoor room temperatures will be monitored and actions will be taken, as necessary.
Battery-operated lights will be distributed to areas where additional light is needed.
As of now, all schools, except for Piru School have power.
We are planning for all schools to remain open and are prepared to continue offer a safe and supporting learning environment for all staff and students.
The ASES after-school program will also continue to operate as normal.
We will continue to work with local officials and monitor the weather conditions. Families will receive updates through Parent Square and social media.
Sincerely,
Christine Schieferle, Superintendent
Fillmore Unified School District
