🌧️ We love seeing you out on the trails, but after so many days of rain, we want to help you make the most of your outdoor time!

Wet and muddy trails are more fragile than they look. Bike tires and horse hooves on saturated soil can cause ruts and damage that takes months to repair and can lead to temporary closures.

Please stick to paved paths or well-drained higher trails when possible. A little trail stewardship now keeps our trails open and beautiful for everyone.

When in doubt, give it some time to dry. The trails are worth the wait!

Visit our Parks for optional locations.

Help shape Gonzalez Ranch’s next chapter!

On October 3, Coconino County dedicated Gonzalez Ranch, 488 acres of ponderosa pine forest, open meadows, and Gonzalez Lake just outside Williams.

Our thanks to the Rebecca Biegert Family, who entrusted this land to the County, and to the Trust for Public Land for helping make it possible. Thank you as well to the Gonzalez family, who shared the story of the ranch and their century of history in Williams, beginning when Pedro Gonzalez arrived from Spain in 1906.

This is a new site for Coconino County Parks and Recreation, and the community will help shape what it becomes. Be a part of creating a shared vision for your new 488-acre community open space.

Join us for the Gonzalez Ranch Master Plan public meeting on Wednesday, November 4, from 4 - 6 p.m. at The Shed, 314 E. Railroad Ave. in Williams.

Happy World Animal Day!

Did you know Fort Tuthill County Park is one of 30 watchable wildlife sites within 30 miles of Flagstaff?

A walk on the Soldiers Trail loop on any given morning might get you a mule deer sighting, or if you are really lucky, a glimpse of elk moving through the trees.

Fun fact: October is prime elk activity season in Northern Arizona. Bull elk are finishing up the rut, and herds are on the move, making this one of the best months of the year to spot them in and around our parks.

What is the best wildlife moment you have had at one of our parks or around northern Arizona? Share your photos and stories below!
