💬 WHAT WOULD YOU SAY?
A family member tells you their partner controls their money and doesn’t allow them access to the bank account.
❌ Instead of: “You need to leave.”
💜 Try: “That sounds really difficult. I believe you. What kind of support would be helpful right now?”
Let survivors make decisions about their own lives while knowing they have support.

💜 Things survivors wish you knew:
“I wasn’t staying because I thought it was okay.”
Survivors may face fear, financial dependence, isolation, threats, manipulation, or concerns for their children or pets.
There is no one-size-fits-all experience of abuse—and there is never a reason to blame someone for another person’s choice to harm or control them.

🚩 RED FLAG: “I control all the money. You don’t need to know what I spend.”
💚 GREEN FLAG: “Let’s talk about our finances and make decisions together.”
Financial control can be a form of abuse. Healthy relationships involve transparency, shared decision-making, and respect for each person’s financial independence.

💜 Awareness is just the beginning!

There are many ways you can support survivors and help create a more informed and compassionate community:

1️⃣ Share resources and information
2️⃣ Learn the signs of domestic violence
3️⃣ Support organizations serving survivors

Every conversation, connection, and act of support matters.

💜 Wear purple. Show support. Raise awareness.

This October, we're wearing purple to recognize Domestic Violence Awareness Month and stand in solidarity with survivors.

Whether you're wearing purple, sharing resources, or starting a conversation, every action helps raise awareness and remind survivors that they are not alone.

Share your purple with us! 💜

🩶 IT DOESN’T HAVE TO LEAVE A BRUISE.
“You don’t need those friends.”
“Your family doesn’t understand us.”
“I don’t like you going out without me.”
Abuse can involve isolating someone from the people and support systems around them.
Healthy relationships make room for connection—not isolation.

💬 WHAT WOULD YOU SAY?
A coworker frequently gets calls and texts from their partner during work and seems nervous about responding quickly.
❌ Instead of: “Your partner sounds crazy.”
💜 Try: “I’ve noticed you seem stressed. If you ever need support or someone to talk to, I’m here.”
You never know what someone may be experiencing behind the scenes.

🖤🩶🤍💜 It’s Ace Week, October 25–31!

This week, we celebrate asexual people and raise awareness of the many experiences within the ace community. Asexuality describes experiencing little or no sexual attraction, and every person’s experience is their own.

Ace people are part of our 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Your identity is valid, your relationships are yours to define, and you belong at Pride. 🌈

Let’s keep learning, challenge stereotypes, and make room for every way of being ourselves.

💚 Today is World Mental Health Day.

Experiencing crime, abuse, or trauma can have lasting emotional effects. Access to support, understanding, and compassionate care can make a difference in a survivor's journey.

Today, we're reminding our community that healing looks different for everyone, and asking for help is a sign of strength.

Let's continue creating a community where everyone feels supported.

🚩 RED FLAG: “Why do you need to go out without me?”
💚 GREEN FLAG: “Have fun tonight!”
A healthy relationship allows each person to maintain friendships, interests, and a life outside the relationship.
Love doesn’t require isolation.
