🚀🍡 Marshmallow Catapults & Energy in Action! 🍡🚀

Mrs Murphy’s 4th grade students had a BLAST learning about potential and kinetic energy through a hands-on marshmallow catapult activity! 🧪🔬

Students explored how energy is stored when they pulled back their catapults (potential energy) and how that energy was released to send marshmallows flying (kinetic energy)! 🎯

Today started our After-School STEAM Workshop!!

Our Flat Lick Elementary’s After-School STEAM Enrichment Workshop, funded by PRI and led by Mrs Ostering will continue for the next few weeks. This workshop provides students with creative, hands-on learning experiences with an emphasis on the arts. Students explore their creativity, artistic expression, and imagination through engaging art activities while developing problem-solving skills, confidence, and fine motor skills. Special thanks to the FSCS Coordinator, Paula Miracle, for planning and coordinating this enriching opportunity, which allows students to explore their artistic talents and enjoy meaningful learning experiences beyond the regular school day.

Mrs. H’s Kindergarten class has been working hard learning to count forward and backwards within 10, write numerals to 10, and demonstrate 1:1 correspondence.

Students have also been extending their learning from Eureka Math Squared lessons to bring their learning to life. This week, students demonstrated “number stairs” to model what 1 more and 1 less looks like. Before fall break, they used 5-group mats to model numbers within 10 and moved themselves around the room to correctly sequence numbers. They’re ten-tastic!

Today started After School Robotics Enrichment Workshop!!

Flat Lick Elementary students will participate in an after school Robotic Workshop led by Mrs. Wahlstedt for the next couple of weeks. The Robotics Workshop provides elementary students with hands-on learning opportunities to build and explore robots using robotics equipment funded by PRI. Students develop problem-solving, critical-thinking, creativity, and teamwork skills while learning basic engineering and technology concepts. This engaging, project-based learning experience encourages STEM exploration and introduces students to skills that support future academic success and career readiness. Thank you to our FSCS Coordinator, Paula Miracle for planning and arranging this workshop for our students.
