Today, we had 3 Vietnam veterans from the Carleton VFW visit the school. Al Poremba, Mike Goode, and Arnold Lewandowsky shared their experiences and answered questions for the students in our “History of the Vietnam Era” course. The kids learned a lot and appreciated them sharing their time. We thanked them for their service and are hoping they can come back to share more!

Our 5th grade students had an exciting opportunity to explore future careers through the Downriver Career Technical Consortium Expo at Barnes Elementary!

Students traveled from table to table learning about programs such as Welding, Health Occupations, Construction Trades, Digital Media, and more. They were able to meet and talk with current DCTC students who shared what they are learning and what it’s like to participate in these programs.

A big thank you to our DCTC students and staff for giving our 5th graders such a great hands-on introduction to career and technical education!

Small gestures can bring comfort in the heaviest moments.

Our Student Leadership class recently came together to create matching mom-and-baby bracelet sets for Metro Detroit Share. These special sets will be packed into memory boxes distributed to local hospitals and given to mothers who have experienced the painful loss of a baby—one bracelet for mom to hold close, and one to stay with her baby forever.

We are so proud of our students for using their time and hearts to support families in our community when they need it most.

Thank you, Metro Detroit Share, for the incredible and compassionate work you do!
