🚒🔨 **WOW! WHAT A DIFFERENCE A DAY MAKES!**

Today was a big day at Fletcher Fire Rescue as we kicked off the demolition phase of our kitchen remodel, made possible through the **Lowe’s Community Impact Grant!**

We knew having the Lowe’s Red Vest team from the Hendersonville store come out to help would make a difference, but we weren't prepared for just how much they would accomplish!

Thanks to their hard work, demolition went much faster than we ever anticipated. Every single person jumped right in, rolled up their sleeves, and wasn't afraid to get their hands dirty. There was no standing around watching. They came ready to work, and that's exactly what they did!

What impressed us most wasn't just how much work they got done, but the genuine commitment and enthusiasm they brought to helping our department. It's one thing for a company to provide funding for a project, but it's something special when their employees show up, work alongside you, and put that much effort into making it successful.

To the entire Hendersonville Red Vest team, THANK YOU! Your hard work, generosity, and willingness to give your time means more to us than you probably realize. You made a tremendous impact today, and we are grateful for every one of you!
We've still got a ways to go before our new kitchen is complete, but thanks to this amazing group, we're off to a fantastic start!

📸 Take a look at some of today's progress and the folks who helped make it happen!

🚒 **BIG THINGS ARE HAPPENING AT FLETCHER FIRE RESCUE!** 🔨

Monday is going to be a big day for our department as we officially kick off the demolition phase of our kitchen remodel!

Thanks to the **Lowe’s Community Impact Grant**, a project we've been hoping to tackle for quite some time is finally becoming a reality.

Even better, Monday will be a **Lowe’s Red Vest Day!** We’ll have a team of Lowe’s associates from the Hendersonville store joining us to roll up their sleeves and help get this project underway.

Our kitchen is more than just a place to prepare meals. It's where our firefighters gather between calls, share meals, spend time together, and build the friendships and teamwork that carry over onto the fireground. After years of around-the-clock use, this space is ready for some much-needed improvements.

This project will completely transform our kitchen, creating a more open, functional, and welcoming space for the men and women who serve our community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

We are incredibly grateful to **Lowe’s and the Hendersonville store team** for investing in our department and making this project possible.

We were proud to run alongside Jonathan Milkovich as Operation Carolina came through our fire district!

Deputy Chief Jimmy Gasperson, Captain Postell, Lieutenant Klaas, and Engineer Robertson joined Jonathan at the county line on Highway 25 and ran with him through the Rugby Drive area.

Jonathan is running 700 miles across North Carolina to raise awareness for the mental health of veterans, service members, and first responders. We’re grateful our members could share a few of those miles with him and help bring attention to a cause that matters deeply to the fire service.

Big news for Fletcher Fire Rescue! 🚨🚒

We are incredibly grateful to announce that we’ve been awarded a Lowe’s Community Impact Grant! This grant is helping us check off a huge "bucket list" item: a much-needed kitchen remodel at the station. 🍽️✨

As many of you know, our department is still navigating the tough road of recovering from the building loss caused by Hurricane Helene. With extra personnel now working together out of a single station, space and resources have been stretched. Having a functional, updated kitchen isn't just about modernizing—it’s about giving our firefighters a proper place to recharge, share meals, and stay strong while serving our community around the clock.

A massive thank you to for investing in our department and supporting local first responders when we need it most! ❤️🙌

Is your home prepared for an "Ember Attack"? 🏠🔥
It’s a common misconception that wildfires only destroy homes via a massive wall of flames. Research into home survival shows a different reality: most homes ignite due to embers and small flames.
The "Mile-High" Threat
Embers are burning pieces of airborne wood or vegetation. They can be carried more than a mile by the wind, landing in gutters, under decks, or in vents—starting "spot fires" far from the main blaze.
The Home Ignition Zone (HIZ)
Your home’s survival depends on the Home Ignition Zone—the condition of your house and everything within 200 feet of its foundation.
The Reality Check: While clearing a full 200-foot radius isn't always possible (especially in heavily wooded areas or tight neighborhoods), a 50-foot buffer is your critical line of defense. If you live where the wildland meets your backyard, focusing on those first 50 feet is the most vital step you can take.

There are methods for homeowners to prepare their homes to withstand ember attacks and minimize the likelihood of flames or surface fire touching the home.
