🚒 A Historic Day for Flint Hill Volunteer Fire & Rescue 🚑

Starting today, July 1, 2026, Flint Hill Volunteer Fire & Rescue is proud to officially offer 24/7 EMS staffing — a major milestone for our department and for the safety of our community!

This achievement didn't happen overnight. It's the result of countless hours of planning and the dedication of our volunteer members, who stepped up to make sure our neighbors in Flint Hill and across Rappahannock County have access to timely, life-saving emergency medical care around the clock.

Pictured: Chief Sean Knick with just some of the dedicated EMS professionals who volunteer their time to serve our community. We're incredibly grateful for their commitment and proud to have them serving Rappahannock County.

To our community: thank you for your continued support of your local volunteer fire and rescue department. Milestones like this are only possible because of you.

🚨 Interested in giving back to your community? Flint Hill Volunteer Fire & Rescue is always looking for dedicated individuals to join our team. Reach out to learn more about how you can help!

HELP US FIND YOU!

When you call for help, every second counts. To help keep our community safe, Flint Hill Volunteer Fire & Rescue has partnered with Oak View Bank to provide FREE reflective address signs to residents in the Flint Hill area of Rappahannock County.

For fire, rescue, and law enforcement personnel, being able to quickly locate your residence can make a life-saving difference—especially on dark rural roads and long driveways.

To get a reflective sign to ensure emergency responders can locate your home faster, please contact Jim Derdeyn at 703/298-6601. You can also get set up for a sign at our open house on Saturday, June 6 from 11-1pm.

Please share this post with your neighbors in Rappahannock County, and be sure to stop in and give Jason Brady at Oak View a thumbs up! Let’s work together to make sure our community is visible and protected when it matters most.

Flint Hill Volunteer Fire & Rescue is proud to welcome its newest member, Elijah Settle, into Company 4 as a firefighter, emergency medical technician (EMT) and certified emergency vehicle driver. Elijah is the 50th member to affiliate with the Flint Hill Volunteer Fire & Rescue since it was reorganized under new leadership in January 2023, and he is the now the tenth Emergency Medical Services (EMS) provider in Company 4.

Flint Hill Volunteer Fire & Rescue has worked diligently over the past three years to rebuild trust and strengthen support within our community. Today’s milestone of 50 affiliated members is testament to our hard work, professionalism and positive focus. In 2025, Flint Hill responded to 83 fire calls and 269 emergency medical calls, and in the first first quarter of 2026 we responded to 26 fire calls and 87 medical emergencies.

We thank Elijah for his commitment to serving our community and extend our deepest gratitude for the continued support and generous donations from the community—our ability to respond to emergencies in the Flint Hill and greater Rappahannock County areas would not be possible without you!

Firefighters from the Flint Hill Volunteer Fire & Rescue recently participated in a Pump Operators training. Without municipal fire hydrants, water from lakes, pools and other reservoirs is needed to refill tanks in the event of a sustained fire, and pumps are needed to both fill and discharge water.

Company 4 received 83 fire calls in 2025 and 26 fire calls from
January to March in 2026.

We are always looking for new volunteers who are interested in joining our firefighting team!
