Our CEO, James Gaskin, is at American Red Cross Michigan Region (Flint) today. He "carved" 🎃 out time to give blood 🩸 for the Koegel Meats, Inc. Blood Drive. (Started to honor Al Koegel who gave back tremendously to his community and was a lifelong donor.)

Head over until 3:45pm TODAY, Oct. 29th to 1401 S. Grand Traverse Street. Someone in the US needs blood or platelets every 2 seconds! Only 3% of the eligible US population donates each year. Let's show them Genesee County can be better than 3%.

This is the inaugural year of this award. Since 2019, the Ally Challenge presented by McLaren has made the United Way of Genesee County it's offical charity partner. At the conclusion of this years tournament more than $3million dollars has been donated over the years. In true partnership, we don't just collect a check. We work and give tirelessly to ensure the tournament is a success. We can't do that without more than 100 volunteers staffing 7 concession stands throughout the weekend. Scott Ball instanstly came to mind for this inauguaral year award. He has been with us all along our Ally journey, starting with the first year helping us with clean up in a torrential downpour. Over the years, he added staffing our busiest concession tent during the Ally's community concert, and still helps Jamie-Lee with clean up after the event on Sunday night.

This award is given in recognition of dedication and commitment to helping others and making our community a better place for everyone. It honors an individual who goes above and beyond in volunteer work, local leadership, and community support. Steve Dawes leadership in the union began when he was elected first as a skilled trades committeeperson in 1989, then moved up through the years, to president of UAW Local 651. He was also appointed to the UAW International Union staff serving in Flint and Lansing. In 2020 he was delegated UAW Region 1-D President serving UAW locals in 73 counties. Steve retired after his term this year, but we know his dedication to community continues.
