Nashville's Big Back Yard is a natural watershed region anchored by 100 miles of the Natchez Trace Parkway and made up of 12 connected communities with populations under 5,000 people.

Explore a significant part of Natchez Trace history!🍃

At milepost 385.9 near Hohenwald, the Meriwether Lewis monument marks the explorers gravesite near Grinder's Stand, where he died in 1809. Walk the grounds and interpretive trails to learn about his final journey and the travelers who once followed the Old Trace. This stop offers plenty of history beyond the roadside view!

Before it was Tuscumbia, it was Coldwater. Discover a chapter of the town’s early history at **Coldwater Founders’ Day on Saturday, October 24th!🎻

Gather at the historic Coldwater Stage Coach Stop for live music by the Cane Creek Cliff Dwellers, cabin museum tours and demonstrations of spinning, weaving, chair caning and basket making. Homemade chicken stew and baked goods will be available, with sales supporting the preservation of the cabin and other local historic sites. Hosted by the City of Tuscumbia and the Colbert County Historical Landmarks Foundation, this free celebration brings local history and traditional craftsmanship together in Nashville’s Big Backyard!

Some of Nashville's Big Back Yard's best music comes from a little stage in Leiper's Fork.🎤 At Fox and Locke, Southern comfort food and live performances share a space that's been bringing people together since its beginnings as a country store in 1947.

Formerly known as Fox and Locke General Merchandise, then Puckett's Grocery, Fox and Locke carries that gathering place tradition forward with ticketed shows, Thursday Open Mic Nights, and free daytime music on weekends. Come for a meal, discover an artist, and experience a piece of the village's musical history.🎶
