We’re delighted to share that our very own Laksha (4th grade) won the 2026 Texas State Girls Chess Championship in the Elementary (K–5) section last week, and she did it wearing her Bluebonnet Bears shirt and playing with true Bear spirit! 🐻💙

Laksha was the only player in the section with a perfect score of 4.0/4. She played almost 8 hours of chess in one day, which takes an extraordinary amount of focus and stamina. As state champion, Laksha is invited to the Texas Invitational Tournament. The winner of that tournament gets to represent Texas in the national championship!

We are so proud of Laksha! Please join us in congratulating her on this amazing accomplishment!
