Today, Commissioner Garcia and Deputy Mayor for Operations Julia Kerson celebrated 100 years of fresh, clean Catskills water and announced the completion of a $568 million upgrade to the Gilboa Dam at Schoharie Reservoir that will help keep that delicious water flowing for another 100 years!

Engineer Ashley Perez is working on the Gateway to , an innovative underground system designed to capture nearly 1 million gallons of stormwater annually. She’s happy the project will not only reduce flooding but ALSO add new public spaces for the community to enjoy!

Out of the Archives: Construction framed by a diversion tunnel that would reroute the Neversink River until work on the Neversink Dam was done. While the stream control works were largely finished in 1942, the year this photo was taken, the project was put on hold due to building material shortages during WWII. Restarted in 1946, it was done by 1954. Neversink water travels to Rondout Reservoir before heading into the Delaware Aqueduct toward NYC.
