Get Connected, Stay Informed The Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary is located in the heart of the City of Folsom. Operating since 1963, the zoo sanctuary has been the home to hundreds of animals from squirrels and deer to tigers and bears. Each year the zoo welcomes thousands of visitors in a simple and unassuming park like environment. With close to 100 animals and adjacent to Lions Park (featuring tables, BBQ’s and children’s play areas) and the Folsom Valley (mini-scale) Railway, not to mention City Hall, Dan Russell Arena, and the Folsom City Library, we know you and your family will enjoy your visit. The City of Folsom has a Social Media Policy that establishes guidelines for the use of social media sites, including Facebook. You may view the policy at

We're slithering and crawling into National Reptile Awareness Day! 🦎🐍

The zoo sanctuary is home to many reptiles, from our charismatic desert tortoises to the spicy Gila monster, the extra-long California kingsnake, and our gentle corn snake, just to name a few.

Reptiles come in all shapes, sizes, and personalities, and each one has something unique to teach us. Stop by the zoo sanctuary and learn more about some of our scaly residents!

Introducing Point Five Fridays!

Every Friday, we will post a photo of an animal using a 0.5x zoom lens. Some may be easy to identify, some may be hard to suss out. Your job is to comment your guess as to what animal it is AND if it’s an animal we have multiples of, try to identify the individual! Answers will be revealed Monday mornings.

Let’s start with an easy one, who’s this regal creature?
