The Department has a strong and proud heritage reaching back to the Gold Rush era when a group of citizens formed the Folsom Hook and Ladder Company on March 3, 1857. Today’s department is guided by three priorities: Mission, Members, and Community. With a staff of 65, we work together to provide fire suppression, rescue, prevention, public education, hazardous materials response, and emergency medical services to the community.

Our thoughts are with the REACH Air Medical Services family following the tragic helicopter crash off Catalina Island on September 30.

We extend our deepest condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of those who lost their lives. We are also thinking of the survivors and grateful for the first responders, search and rescue teams, and everyone involved in the recovery efforts.

From all of us at Folsom Fire Department, our hearts are with everyone affected by this tragedy.

Seamless service relies on strong partnerships. Folsom Fire Joins Regional Response to Floriston Fire

Our personnel recently deployed with the Sacramento Regional Incident Management Team to support operations on the Floriston Fire. Department members served in key roles across Incident Command, Logistics, Operations, Planning, and Safety.
Complex incidents require strong coordination, and we are grateful to work alongside our local, state, federal, and law enforcement partners.

We also want to thank Ms. Susan Bower of Creekside Charter School. Ms. Bower delivered handwritten thank-you cards from students to our membersβ€”your support means a lot to our crews.

🚨 FEMA USAR Task Force 7 | Monthly Training

Folsom Fire Department members assigned to FEMA Urban Search & Rescue Task Force 7 (CA-TF7) recently participated in monthly technical rescue training focused on high-line rope systems and rope rescue operations.

High-line systems allow rescuers to safely access and move personnel and equipment through areas where traditional access isn’t possible. These skills require detailed planning, communication, teamwork, and constant practice.

CA-TF7 is a regional Type 1 Heavy Rescue Task Force made up of firefighters and specialists from agencies throughout the Sacramento region. Regular training helps ensure the team is prepared to respond to complex emergencies locally, statewide, and nationally.

⚠️ RAINBOW BRIDGE CLOSURE

8 a.m. to midnight

Rainbow Bridge will be closed to traffic from 8 a.m. to midnight Sunday, September 13, for Dinner on the Bridge, a special event organized by Choose Folsom.

Motorists should use Folsom Boulevard to cross the American River. Detours and electronic message signs will be in place. The Historic District will remain open, and the Historic Truss Bridge will remain open to people walking and biking.

The event is expected to conclude with a 10-minute, 250-drone show at approximately 8:30 p.m. Find event and viewing information at ChooseFolsom.com/dinner-on-the-bridge.

Today, on the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, members of the Folsom Fire Department joined firefighters and first responders from across our region for the annual Sacramento 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb. In true spirit of solidarity, our on-duty crews who couldn’t leave their response areas scaled the tower right here at Station 36 to ensure every member could take part. πŸš’πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ
Each firefighter climbed 110 storiesβ€”the height of the Twin Towersβ€”wearing full turnout gear while carrying the names and memories of the 343 FDNY firefighters, 60 police officers, 8 paramedics, and thousands of innocent lives lost on that fateful day.
25 years later, we reaffirm our promise: We Will Never Forget.
We stand in solidarity with the families of the fallen, our brothers and sisters in emergency services, and all who continue to carry the weight of that day. Thank you to everyone who supports this solemn tradition and helps keep their memory alive.
