Parish-Wide Burn Ban Established for St. Tammany Parish
ST. TAMMANY PARISH, LA. β Parish President Mike Cooper has issued a parish-wide burn ban for St. Tammany Parish due to ongoing dry conditions and the increased risk of fire.
The burn ban will remain in effect for the next two weeks. At the end of this period, conditions will be reevaluated to determine whether the ban can be lifted or needs to be extended.
St. Tammany Parish has experienced an extended period with little to no rainfall, leaving conditions dangerously dry and increasing the potential for fires to spread quickly and threaten homes, property, and lives.
St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 5 urges all residents to take this ban seriously and refrain from all outdoor burning until further notice. Dry conditions can allow even a small fire to quickly become dangerous and difficult to control.
Our firefighters and emergency responders remain committed to protecting the lives and property of our community. We ask everyone to do their part by following the burn ban and helping prevent avoidable fires during this period of elevated fire danger.
Please do not burn at this time. Your cooperation is essential to keeping our community safe.
Help us protect our community. Stay safe, stay alert, and prevent fires.
