It’s almost 9 p.m., Folsom! Have you done your 9 p.m. Routine?

Take a few minutes before bed to help keep your home, vehicle, and neighborhood safer. Don’t make it easy for a thief!

🚗 Remove valuables. Bring your wallet, keys, cell phone, and other valuables inside. Don’t give thieves a reason to break in!

🔐 Lock it up. Lock your car doors and secure your home. An unlocked door is an easy opportunity for a thief.

💡 Light it up. Turn on your outdoor lights to help eliminate dark hiding spots and make your property less inviting to criminals.

And don't forget to pick up your mail to prevent mail and identity theft!

A few simple steps each night can help prevent crimes of opportunity. Make the 9 p.m. Routine a habit, Folsom!

9 p.m. Check. Lock. Protect.

⚠️ Traffic Alert: Avoid Folsom Boulevard

Crossing arms are stuck down at all Sacramento Regional Transit District light rail crossings along Folsom Boulevard from the Historic District to Iron Point Road, causing traffic backups.

Sacramento Regional Transit is working to resolve the issue. Drivers should avoid the area and use alternate routes until further notice. Do not drive around lowered crossing arms.

UPDATE: The SacRT crossing arms along Folsom Boulevard have been raised, and the crossings are open. SacRT is working on repairs to restore full operations of the crossings. Thank you for your patience.

Drone support helped Folsom Police locate a fleeing e-motorcycle rider during targeted enforcement on September 25 in response to community complaints about reckless riding.

A group of riders on illegal e-motorcycles fled when officers attempted to stop them. A Folsom Police Department drone operator tracked the group, helping officers locate and stop one juvenile rider.

The juvenile was cited for criminal and traffic violations, and the e-motorcycle was towed. Officers contacted the rider’s parents, who came to the scene and took custody of their child. Officers are working with law enforcement partners to identify the remaining riders.

Officers also stopped several Class 2 e-bike riders for minor traffic violations, providing education and warnings.

Before purchasing an electric bike or motorcycle for your child, make sure you understand the laws. As a reminder, e-motorcycles:

▪️ Are prohibited on city trails.
▪️ Must be registered with the California DMV and display a valid license plate for street use.
▪️ Require riders to wear a DOT-approved helmet.

With the holidays fast approaching, here are some helpful reminders regarding e-bikes.
Electric bikes offer a fun and accessible way to enjoy the many beautiful trails throughout Folsom. While attention is often drawn to riders who do not follow trail or roadway laws and courtesies, we also recognize the numerous benefits e-bikes provide for individuals of all ages. Below are several ways e-bikes can be safely and responsibly enjoyed around the City of Folsom.
✅Riders CAN ride e-bikes (class 1, 2 and 3) on City of Folsom trails while adhering to the 15-mph speed limit.
✅Riders CAN utilize bike lanes.
✅Riders CAN ride class 1 and class 2 e-bikes with no associated age restrictions. Riders of Class 3 e-bikes must be 16 years of age or older.
✅Riders CAN ride class 1, 2 and 3 e-bikes without possessing a drivers license.
Electric bikes are a great form of alternative transportation that many in our community enjoy and rely on. As a reminder, riders under 18 are required to wear a helmet, regardless of the e‑bike class, and all riders must obey traffic laws.
