If you're approaching age 65, or if you plan on retiring soon after turning 65, you do not want to miss the Medicare 101 presentation offered by Washington County's Department of Health and Human Services and Senior Health Insurance Benefits Assistance (SHIBA) on Saturday, October 17th, from 1:00 - 3:00 pm in the Rogers Room.

During this free informational session you'll learn about:

* Medicare Basics: Parts A and B
* Prescription Drugs: Part D
* Medigap secondary coverage
* Fraud prevention
* Annual open enrollment help
* 2027 Medicare updates

Registration is not required, but last year's program was packed, so RSVPs are appreciated.

Questions? Call SHIBA at 503-846-3094.

We look forward to seeing all of you at our Banned Books Week Silent Read-In tomorrow (Saturday, October 10) from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm! Bring your favorite banned or challenged book - or choose one of the titles we'll have on display - and meet in the fireplace area for this community-wide show of support for libraries and the freedom to read

We'll have a few announcements at the beginning of the event, but otherwise you're welcome to grab a treat and hang out for some quiet reading time and a chance to connect with fellow champions of intellectual freedom.

Everyone who attends will also receive a QR code to download a free audiobook copy of "Banned Together" or "How to Defend Books and Why" courtesy Libro.fm.

To mark Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October, the library is hosting Voices of Hope, a powerful exhibit created by people impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse that reflect their personal experiences and journey to healing.

The library would like to thank the Family Peace Center of Washington County (formerly the The Family Justice Center of Washington County) and its partners, including the Domestic Violence Resource Center, the Sexual Assault Resource Center, CARES Northwest, and Abuse Recovery Ministry & Services -ARMS for collecting these works, and express our gratitude to everyone who chose to tell their stories of growth through art.

Voices of Hope will be on display for the entire month of October in the area by the fireplace.

We love bringing the library joy to the Adelante Farmers Market. It is such a wonderful opportunity to see all our library friends and to make new ones!

It was a blast having so many Pacific University students sign up for new library cards and get entered to win an adorable Wallace tote bag from our partners at Washington County Cooperative Library Services (WCCLS).

If you don't have a library card yet, come see us, there is no better way to celebrate National Library Card Sign-Up Month than by getting your own library card!
