Forest Lake Area High School recently wrapped up their Healthcare Career Camp with 54 students, showcasing the important and in-demand opportunities in this career pathway. Throughout the camp, students were fully immersed in real-world medical experiences. At the high school, our own teachers and student leaders guided participants through suturing techniques, dementia care, blood typing labs, and a quiz bowl. Students also tackled an interactive public health outbreak scenario facilitated alongside guests from Washington County and the State of Minnesota. Our continuing partnership with Fairview Lakes Medical Center brought these concepts full circle as students toured hospital departments, practiced IV simulations and injection blocks, analyzed X-rays in Imaging, explored the OR and ER, heard from hospital administration and earned their Stop the Bleed certification.
