Last week, this week, and next week we have been focused on engineering for our weekly trainings. Your Forreston firefighters have been putting in the hours on both engines learning (and refreshing for some) the skills it takes to be an apparatus engineer on fires. The truck pictured is extremely advanced and takes a lot of the guess work out for the engineer to be able to do their job with less stress and less stress to the firefighters on the hand lines. Keep up the good work and stay safe everybody!

Over the last few weeks we have had some members working very hard on our old Ford brush truck. This truck was retired the other year after 54 years of dedicated service to our residents. Here is the results from their work! Old #6 is now in its retirement clothes and ready to just be admired and have good stories reminisced!

Around town you may have noticed the tops of the fire hydrants have been getting painted by a couple of our employees. Orange signifies 500-999 gallons per minute of flow and green indicates 1,000-1,499 gallons per minute of flow. These colors are a national standard that most departments know and will aid us and them when they come to help us with mutual aid. Before all the water main upgrades that the Village of Forreston made, most of these green hydrants were 700gpm and lower. This is all done to make our residents safer!
