The Rosebud County Elections office has received many phone calls concerning voter registration status. Voters in our area have been contacted by outside sources making the voters question their registration status. This is pretty common across the state during election cycles, coming from various campaigns and agencies. While this is understandably unsettling, there is no cause for panic.
Please contact the Elections office if you are concerned about your registration or click on the Voter Portal link (below). This link gives a detailed description of your registration including residential and mailing address, precinct, House and Senate Districts, polling locations and registration status. The portal will also state if the voter is an Absentee Voter or not. Ballot tracking and Sample Ballots are also available on the portal. If you find your information is incorrect, please reach out to our Elections office (406-346-7318) to update your information.

The Northern Cheyenne Tribal Court has issued juror summonses to residents in the communities of Lame Deer, Birney, and Ashland. This follows a 2023 decision that allows the Tribal Courts to summon potential jurors from areas in close proximity to the reservation, although it does not grant the Court authority over those individuals. The purpose of this practice is to help ensure defendants have access to fair and impartial juries.
After speaking with Judge Curtis Elk Shoulder at the Northern Cheyenne Tribal Court, it was clarified that service for non-Native potential jurors is strictly voluntary. No fines, penalties, or other actions will be taken against non-Native individuals who choose not to serve as jurors for the Tribal Court.
