On Sunday, October 11, 2026, at approximately 9:27 pm, Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputies stopped an SUV, driven by Jamir Chisholm of Jonesboro, Georgia, for a traffic violation. He admitted to having a small amount of ma*****na in the vehicle. While searching the vehicle, Chisholm fled the scene on foot but was quickly apprehended. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of an unmanned aerial vehicle (commonly known as a drone), approximately three pounds of ma*****na, four ecstasy tablets, and other contraband believed to be associated with “prison drops.” Deputies believed that the contraband was going to the Coffee Correctional Facility in Nicholls, Georgia.
Chisholm is being held in the Monroe County Jail without bond. He has been charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Ma*****na, Possession of Ecstasy, Obstruction of an Officer and Possession of tools with the intent to commit a crime.
Sheriff Freeman alluded last week during the arrest of a person attempting to bring contraband to the prisons, that this was becoming an epidemic within the prison system. He stated that this arrest makes at least five that we have stopped before they were able to drop contraband at the prisons within the past several months.
