Yesterday evening I was happy to join colleagues and representatives from local school districts at Evansville High School for an important discussion about school funding. I had the opportunity to hear everyone’s concerns and share my thoughts on possible future legislation. So many of our schools are struggling, and property taxpayers are having to make up for inadequate funding from the state. We all deserve better than this. We need to increase special ed reimbursement rates, increase general aids, and index general aids for inflation so that schools actually have the resources they need and property taxpayers can finally see some relief. Every child in every part of our state deserves a quality education, and I will continue fighting to make this a reality.
