Chouteau County SAR -Search & Rescue The Chouteau County Search and Rescue is a non-profit organization operating under the auspices of t Don Allison, LeRoy Taylor and Earl Taylor as directors.

Chouteau County SAR was formed April 4, 1972 by President Doug Williams. Vice President at the time was Bob Hume and Secretary/Treasurer was Steve Miller. At the time there were approx. 40 members from Fort Benton, Big Sandy, Geraldine, Highwood, and all of Chouteau County. Today's Chouteau County SAR consists of approx. 20 motivated, trained volunteers from throughout the county, six of the members being Law Enforcement personnel. These volunteers have varied training and experience from fire departments, emergency medical services, river operations, ice water rescue and embankment rescue. This unit has a number of specialized craft for both land and river searches and recoveries. Additionally, the Search and Rescue is the unit responsible for extrication of trapped individuals in farm and vehicle accidents and is very well equipped with modern equipment and training. They search for the lost and missing. Search and Rescue is always interested in gaining new members. We provide training opportunities but also like to gain experienced members too.

Today at approximately 7am we were called to the Thain Creek area of the Highwood mountains for a 81 year old msn that was overdue from his mountain bike ride from Thain Creek to Geyser. Two of us left with the drone to fly the area while more our crew readied off road vehicles for the search. As we prepared to launch the drone we were advised the individual was located two miles into Judith Basin County.

Then shortly after 4pm we were called for a 10 year old child missing in the Knees area of Chouteau County. This call was cancelled a few minutes later as the child was located.

It is very unusual for us to receive two search calls in the same day in very different parts of the county.

Thank you to everyone for the great response.
