Cash and other assets received by Nonappropriated Fund Instumentalities (NAFIs) are from sources other than monies appropriated by Congress. NAFIs are government funds used for the collective benefit of those who generate them: military personnel, their family members, and authorized civilians. NAFIs are an integral DoD organizational entity, which perform an essential government function. NAFIs act in their own name to provide or assist other DoD organizations in Morale, Welfare, and Recreational programs for military personnel and civilians. The NAFIs were established and is currently maintained by the major DoD components. As a fiscal entity, it maintains custody and control over its funds. It is responsible for the prudent administration, safeguarding, and maintenance of those appropriated fund resources made available to carry out its functions. With its nonappropriated funds it contributes to the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation programs of other organizational entities when so authorized. It is not incorporated under the laws of any State or the District of Columbia, and enjoys the legal status of an Instrumentality of the United States. What are NAF jobs?
