Share this post to make sure your community has accurate information.

After Monday, October 26, we recommend returning your ballot at a ballot box or vote center to make sure your ballot arrives in time. All ballots must be received by 7 pm on Election Day. Postmarks do not count.

Make sure to include adequate postage. For a two-card ballot in an official return envelope, you'll need one forever stamp (84¢).

While you're welcome to deliver a few ballots for family or friends, don’t deliver more than ten.

In the state of Colorado, it is illegal to collect more than ten ballots for delivery to any ballot box or vote center.

With less than two weeks left in the election, now is the time to vote! Find a list of ballot boxes and vote centers near you at larimer.gov/where-to-vote.

Don't forget to sign the back of your return envelope!

Your signature allows us to verify your identity. If we can't verify your identity, your vote won't count. Here's how it works!

To verify your identity, we compare the signature on the return envelope with the most recent entry in your voter registration record, which typically comes from past election activity or updates with Colorado Department of Revenue.

As it's natural for signatures to change over time, Election Judges follow official state guidelines and receive extensive training in verifying signatures, looking at proportion, slant, loops, cross points, end strokes, and other local characteristics.

If a signature can't be confirmed, it's sent to a bipartisan team of Election Judges, who review the signature against the voter's entire record. If a match still can't be made, the signature is rejected and the ballot is placed unopened into secure storage. Then, we send the voter a letter asking them to 'cure' their signature.

If you receive a cure letter, make sure you respond as soon as you can. All signature cures must be received by November 12.

If you're unable to sign, make a mark (such as 'x') and have a witness print their name in the box below.

How do we get our ballots from point A to point B? Our Ballot Security Teams!

As ballots are sent out, our Election Judges travel all across Larimer County in 25 bipartisan teams, picking up ballots from ballot boxes, vote centers, and the post office—renting over 20 minivans, vans, and SUVS, and logging more than 12,000 miles over the course of the election.

Ballot Security Teams are clearly identified by bright green vests with the Vote Larimer Logo on the back. If you ever see them out there, stop and say hello!

Voters in the Town of Timnath—your ballot box moved to Timnath Town Center, 4750 Signal Tree Dr, Timnath, CO 80547 last year!

While the ballot box used to be located at the Timnath Public Works building just down the street, we moved it during the 2025 Coordinated Election in order to make it more accessible to the community.

Besides Timnath, we have 23 other ballot boxes where you can drop off your ballot all across Larimer County. Ballot boxes are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week until 7 pm Election Day. No postage is required. Find a list of ballot boxes near you at larimer.gov/where-to-vote.

Have you ever noticed those little rectangular marks on the side of your ballot? They’re not just a decorative border—they’re called timing marks, and they're an essential part of counting your vote!

If you look closely, you'll see that each timing mark is aligned with an oval on the ballot. As we run the ballots through our scanners, our voting system uses the timing marks to locate target areas and look for marks.

If your ballot gets torn and a timing mark gets damaged, the voting system may not be able to 'find' your mark. If that happens, a bipartisan team of election judges will carefully duplicate it onto a new one so we can scan it in!

In the same way, if there are any marks outside of an oval—or any ambiguous marks, write-in candidates, or multiple ovals filled in for a single race—our voting system will send the ballot to adjudication, where a bipartisan team of election judges will review the ballot in order to determine the voter's intent.

The moral of the story? If you make a mistake or your ballot gets damaged, call our Office for a replacement at (970) 498-7820.

If you'd like to learn more about what happens to your ballot after you return it, visit our website at larimer.gov/the-life-of-a-ballot.
