Today, 25 years later, the retired service members and those still serving at TTC Dix pause in solemn remembrance of September 11, 2001.
For those who wore the uniform that day, the memories remain clear: the calls home, the stunned silence, the urgency to report, and the unspoken understanding that America had been attacked—and that a generation would answer the call to defend her.
For those who have served in the years since, 9/11 is more than a chapter in history. It is part of the oath we carry forward. It is reflected in every deployment, every long separation from family, every watch stood, every mission executed, and every sacrifice made in service to something greater than ourselves.
Today, we remember the innocent lives lost at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and aboard Flight 93. We honor the first responders who ran into danger without hesitation. We remember the service members, veterans, and military families who bore the weight of two decades of war, deployments, injuries, loss, and enduring sacrifice.
We mourn those who never came home. We honor those who continue to carry visible and invisible wounds. And we stand grateful for the men and women who answered when our nation needed them most.
At TTC Dix, we remember with heavy hearts—but also with pride.
We remember the fallen.
We honor the wounded.
We stand beside the families who sacrificed.
