With the end of September, we close out Su***de Prevention Month. Members of the Atlantic Strike Team reinforced the importance of connection, awareness, and looking out for one another. Guided by this year’s Coast Guard theme, “Mission Ready: Resilient and Connected,” our team spent September reflecting on available resources and strengthening the connections that help us support one another and our community. The month culminated with members participating in a su***de prevention ruck march hosted on Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. Participants carried 22 pounds of nonperishable goods for distribution to local stations.
Although September has ended, su***de prevention is a year-round responsibility. Atlantic Strike Team plans to continue recognizing the invisible challenges members battle by fostering regular open discussions and providing Awareness and Resiliency training to the crew. Each member can have a lasting impact on others by checking in with your teammates, recognizing when someone may need support, and helping connect them with available resources.
If you or someone you know is in crisis, call 988 and press 1, call the Veterans/Military Crisis Line at 1-800-273-8255 and press 1, or text 838255. In an immediate emergency, call 911.
