Fort Hall Service Unit Early Dismissal

In recognition of the Columbus Day Holiday on Monday, October 12, 2026, Indian Health Service employees have been granted an early dismissal on Friday, October 9, 2026. Employees will be excused from duty 2 hours prior to their normal departure time. The Fort Hall Indian Health Service Clinic will close at 3:00pm on Friday, October 9th.

Please let family and friends know to pick up medications in Pharmacy or send an approved proxy (person who you have identified to receive your medications for you) before the early closure. The Pharmacy Department will remain open throughout the lunch hour and will close at 3:00pm.

If you have questions during the clinic’s closure and need to speak with a nurse, please call the IHS Nurse Advice Line at (866) 470-2015. This service is available 24 hours a day/7 days a week including holidays.

Patients can access the Shoshone-Bannock Community Health Center (HRSA Clinic) or urgent care centers nearby or if one is experiencing a medical emergency call EMS at 911 or please go directly to the nearest emergency room.

Fort Hall Service Unit Federal Holiday Closure

In recognition of the Columbus Day Holiday on Monday, October 12, 2026, Indian Health Service will be closed. The Fort Hall Indian Health Service Clinic will be open again during regular hours on Tuesday, October 13.

Please let family and friends know to pick up medications in Pharmacy or send an approved proxy (person who you have identified to receive your medications for you) preferably before noon on Friday, October 9.

If you have questions during the clinic’s closure and need to speak with a nurse, please call the IHS Nurse Advice Line at (866) 470-2015. This service is available 24 hours a day/7 days a week including holidays.

COMMUNITY NOTICE

Fort Hall Service Unit Clinic

Severe Weather / Water Leakage Update

Following severe weather and torrential rainfall on Friday, September 18, 2026, the Fort Hall Service Unit Clinic experienced water entry affecting the conference room. The IHS Clinic had to close temporarily Friday morning with services available that afternoon.

Initial reports indicated a possible partial roof collapse. After further assessment, it was confirmed that the roof did not collapse. Water entered the building and damaged ceiling tiles and insulation above the conference room.

The source of the water intrusion was identified as a hail dam that caused water to leak around a lower roof drain located above the affected area.

Damaged ceiling tiles and insulation have been removed. Facilities Management staff have begun water mitigation and drying activities, including extracting water from the carpet and placing fans in the affected room.

No injuries or additional hazard exposures were reported as a result of this incident.

Portland Area Health Facilities Engineering has been coordinating with Fort Hall Service Unit Facilities Management to identify and implement appropriate immediate repairs and measures to reduce the likelihood of similar water intrusion during future severe weather.

Facilities staff will continue to monitor the affected area during subsequent rainfalls or other precipitation for evidence of additional leakage throughout the facility.

The Fort Hall Service Unit will develop a permanent repair strategy and take appropriate corrective actions to address the source of the leak and reduce the potential for recurrence which may extend into 2027 based on amical weather conditions.

We appreciate the everyone’s understanding while repairs and preventive measures have been completed. Patient services at IHS and Tribal Health have been available during regular business hours since the afternoon of Friday, September 18th!

The Fort Hall Indian Health Service Unit has been evacuated due to a partial roof collapse from rainfall. The building is closed until further notice while we evaluate its safety. We will share updates with the community as soon as they are available.

Welcome Shoshone-Bannock Festival Visitors

Each August, the Fort Hall Service Unit welcomes many visitors attending the Shoshone-Bannock Festival. We are committed to providing quality care to those who may need medical attention or assistance with prescription medications during their stay.

Many visitors bring enough medication for their trip, but occasionally medications are forgotten or run out before returning home. The following guidelines are in place to help ensure timely care while allowing our medical staff to continue serving all patients.

Patient Eligibility:

To receive services at the Fort Hall Service Unit, eligible patients
should be prepared to provide:
• A valid Tribal Identification (Tribal ID) or Certificate of Indian Blood(CIB)
• Any third-party health insurance information (Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, etc.)
• An existing medical record (chart) at the Fort Hall Indian Health Service (IHS) for medication requests to be processed

Having these documents available helps expedite registration and ensures we can provide timely care.

Prescription Refills

If you have an active prescription through another IHS Pharmacy
and only need a temporary refill:
• Please report directly to the Fort Hall Pharmacy.
• Pharmacy staff will contact your home IHS pharmacy to verify your active prescription(s).
• Once verified, the pharmacy can provide up to a 7-day supply of eligible medications.
Please plan accordingly: Prescription verification may take
additional time. Patients should expect up to 4 hours before
prescriptions are ready for pickup.

Medical Care

Visitors who need treatment for an acute medical concern without a scheduled appointment will be seen as walk-in patients and worked into the schedule as provider availability allows.

After the medical evaluation, the provider will send any appropriate new prescriptions to the Fort Hall Pharmacy for processing.

Controlled Substances

Controlled substances will not be dispensed without a medical evaluation or an approved pharmacy-to-pharmacy prescription transfer, in accordance with applicable regulations and patient safety guidelines.
