We started the day with our regular monthly meeting/training/breakfast. The first Sunday of each month we do our regular apparatus and station checks to comply with the Bureau of Labor. We also got the station ready for some visit from the second graders this week for Fire Prevention Week!

About an ago hour we got called to our second ATV fire within a week. There were no injuries and we had the fire under control within 20 minutes!

Make sure and check your smoke detectors and change the batteries this week! Chief

Another busy day for Fort Kent Fire and Rescue. This morning Chief Pelletier spent some time rearranging air packs from the fire Sunday. Around 330 this afternoon, we responded to a side by side fire off the Caron Road. Tonight, we trained with Public Works and Water/Wastewater on confined space which is required by Maine Bureau of Labor. Thanks to one of our new firefighters Chris Waters for a good instruction!

Last evening, just after 530pm, Fort Kent Fire and Rescue responded to a reported structure fire on Boucher Circle. It was reported all occupants were out of the home. Chief Pelletier arrived and completed a 360 and discovered an attic fire as there were no smoke or fire on the first floor. There was smoke coming from the vents and eaves. Engine 1 arrived and made an aggressive interior attack and knocked the attic fire down. The attic wasn’t easily accessible and crews remained on scene for just under 2 hours checking for extensions. 19 FK firefighters and 7 Eagle Lake firefighters were on scene. No one was injured but 6 people were displaced and Red Cross is assisting them. The Fire Marshals Office will be on scene Monday morning as is normal procedure. Thanks to Public Works, Eagle Lake Fire and ASI for their help on scene!

The past several days have kept us busy! Sunday, we joined Frenchville Fire and other surrounding departments in Frenchville for a live burn training. On Monday night we had our regular meeting/BBQ but it got interrupted by a call for grass fire in Wallagrass. This was actually two large brush piles that were permitted but we put some water on it due to increasing winds. This afternoon, our annual hose testing mandated by the Maine Bureau of Labor was conducted by CMHT Inc. Tomorrow, Engine 1 will be placed out of service for a couple weeks for a repair to its tank. The communities will see no interruption in services. We will have Engine 10 and our surrounding mutual aid partners assist for these two weeks. Thanks to everyone involved - Chief
