HOSS-D would like to congratulate Chyna Mckinney, our HUD Accountant Senior, for her ten years of outstanding service as a Broward County employee. We were honored to attend her recognition ceremony last week.
From October 1, 2024, through September 30, 2025, HOSS-D assisted with reducing homelessness at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport by 31%, improved homeless outreach at Broward County bus terminals, gained a new emergency shelter provider, started a new Safe Parking Program for eligible families living in their cars with children, and much more. Hurricane season is approaching. When a hurricane warning is announced, the Homeless Helpline provides information for homeless services, including shelter locations, in Broward County. If you know of anyone experiencing homelessness in Broward County, have them call 954-563-4357.
In March, HOSS-D’s staff Shakikki and Joseph assisted a client who was found in an altered mental state and passed out on the floor of their home. Thanks to their intervention, the client was brought to the hospital and has made a full recovery. The Broward County Human Services Department awarded Shakikki and Joseph the HSD Salutes Award for their exemplary efforts.

Glasses for the Homeless will be providing free donated glasses from 10AM to 11:30AM at the First Baptist Church of Pompano Beach on May 16th, June 13th, and July 18th.
