Looking for a reason to come to Florida in December? 😉
We're excited to share that OCD Central and South Florida will be hosting a weekend event December 5 - December 7, 2025 in Vero Beach, FL.
This event will be launching a series titled 'OCD and....' emphasizing the importance in nuanced treatment of disorders alongside OCD. This weekend will focus on OCD and treatment coinciding with Eating Disorders and OCD and Substance Use Disorders. We will be kicking off the weekend on Friday evening with an expert panel and individuals with lived experience answering questions and discussing key topics offering 1.5 CEs for those interested.
Saturday will be a day of CE events, with the morning consisting on a series titled: Compulsions, Control and Complexity: Evidence-Based Care for Co-occurring OCD and Eating Disorders presented by Kristina Kise, M.D., & Melanie Smith, PhD, LMHC, CEDS-C. The afternoon series titled: Bridging the Gap: Evidence-Based Treatment for OCD and Co-occurring Substance Use in People Who Use Drugs or Gamble" presented by Patrick McGrath, Ph.D., & Gwilym Roddick, DSW, LCSW will offer 6 CEs for those interested.
To wrap up the weekend - on Sunday morning we will be kicking off our annual One Million Steps for OCD Walk at Vero Beach.

The Seventeenth Judicial Circuit is now accepting submissions from qualified psychiatrists, psychologists, and physicians interested in serving as a neutral expert for the court by evaluating criminal defendants for competency or competency-related mental health issues, and providing in-court testimony, when required. Successful applicants are considered independent contractors and will be required to execute a contract with the Circuit.

To qualify for consideration, the applicant must (1) be a licensed psychologist, psychiatrist, or physician; (2) have completed forensic evaluator training, as required by section 916.115, Florida Statutes; (3) demonstrate general knowledge of court proceedings and competency-related topics, including relevant provisions of Florida Statutes and the Florida Rules of Criminal Procedure; and (4) have experience performing competency or competency-related mental health evaluations (preferably in a jail, prison or forensic hospital setting).
