National Children's Day is just one week away! 🎪
Every child deserves to grow up feeling safe, supported, and loved.
At WID, we help children impacted by domestic violence find their childhood through shelter, counseling, and supportive services.
As we count down to National Children's Day, there is still time to make a difference for our youngest survivors!! Your support helps provide critical resources and life-changing services for children. There is just ONE WEEK LEFT to donate to our National Children's Day campaign. 📚✏️ Help our youngest survivors start the school year with the tools they need to succeed.
More than half of the beds in WID’s shelter are occupied by children who have experienced the trauma of domestic violence. For these children, a new backpack and school supplies are a reminder that they deserve the same opportunities as their peers.
Now through July 31, support the Joanne DeLizza Memorial Back-to-School Drive by donating new school supplies or gift cards. Every donation helps a child walk into the classroom feeling prepared and ready to learn. 💜
📅 June 1 – July 31, 2026
📍 Drop off donations at the Women In Distress Thrift Store (Tuesday–Saturday, 10:00 AM–5:45 PM) or schedule a drop-off by emailing [email protected].
Leaving an abusive relationship should never mean facing homelessness. For many survivors, lack of safe and affordable housing is one of the biggest barriers to starting over.
That’s why WID is building supportive transitional housing — a safe place where survivors and their children can heal with the independence and support they deserve. Thanks to the DeLuca Foundation Challenge Match, every donation to our Building A Safer Tomorrow campaign will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $1.5 million.
As we prepare to host the 4th Annual Statewide Conference on DV next week, we remain committed to creating real, lasting solutions for survivors across our community.
Because healing begins with a safe home. 💜
Every child deserves the chance to feel safe, supported, and free to just be a kid. 🎪
For many children impacted by domestic violence, healing takes specialized care, stability, and support.

✨ Introducing our new Did You Know? series where we highlight powerful moments in women’s history that helped shape the rights, freedoms, and opportunities many people know today!
This week, we’re recognizing the FDA approval of the first oral birth control pill in 1960 — a historic milestone in reproductive autonomy and women’s equality. While access was still heavily restricted at the time, this moment helped pave the way for future generations of women to have more control over their own lives and choices.
At WID, we believe education, awareness, and access to resources are all part of empowering survivors and building a future free from domestic violence. 💜
