Check out these lovebirds!
In the summer of 1987, Bill and JaCinda Carey got engaged right here at Hugh Taylor Birch State Park. What began as a beautiful chapter in their love story has grown into a lifetime of family, community, and giving back.
Today, Bill and JaCinda are the proud parents of four daughters and grandparents to two grandchildren. Birch State Park continues to hold a special place in their hearts, and we are grateful for their ongoing support through their company, Seacrest Pools, their participation in our fundraising events, and JaCinda’s dedicated service on the Friends of Birch State Park Board of Directors.
Thank you, Bill and JaCinda, for helping preserve and enhance the park that has been part of your story for nearly four decades. 💚

A huge thank you to the Mutual Insurance team for joining us for TWO beach cleanups in two weeks! 🙌♻️ Their volunteers removed several buckets of litter from the beach and surrounding areas, helping protect our coastline and keep our park beautiful. 🐚🌴

Sometimes the smallest moments in nature stop us in our tracks. 🦋
This beautiful visitor is a White Peacock butterfly, a species commonly found throughout South Florida. White Peacock butterflies are fast, low flyers that thrive in warm climates and are often spotted basking in the sun along trails and grassy areas.
A wonderful reminder that there is always something incredible to discover at Hugh Taylor Birch State Park.

✂️🌿 Last Thursday, we proudly celebrated the grand opening and ribbon cutting of our new Outdoor Amphitheater & Coastal Corridor Exhibit at Hugh Taylor Birch State Park!
This exciting new space serves as the third and final installation in the Broward County Wildlife Corridor Exhibit project — a collaborative initiative designed to educate and inspire the community about the importance of protecting South Florida’s interconnected ecosystems and wildlife habitats. The first two exhibits opened last year at Flamingo Gardens and the Museum of Discovery and Science, making Birch State Park the culminating piece of this incredible countywide conservation effort. 🌎🐢🌿
Located near Long Lake, the new outdoor amphitheater and exhibit area will provide a dedicated space for ranger-led programs, school field trips, interpretive animal encounters, and hands-on environmental education for years to come. Featuring interactive signage and immersive learning opportunities, the project highlights the unique coastal habitats and wildlife found right here in our park.
We are deeply grateful to the Community Foundation of Broward, MODS, our park staff, project partners, donors, and supporters who helped bring this vision to life. Museum of Discovery and Science
Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate this major milestone for conservation and environmental education in Broward County! 💚

🌿 A huge thank you to the Florida Institute of CPAs for spending their Saturday giving back to Hugh Taylor Birch State Park during the annual FICPA Day of Service! 💚
On May 16, an incredible team of 23 FICPA volunteers rolled up their sleeves and helped remove barrels of trash from the park grounds and beach, making a lasting impact on one of South Florida’s most treasured natural spaces. 🌊♻️
Special thanks to Friends of Birch Board Member Mary Lou Ruderman for leading this wonderful effort and helping bring the community together in support of conservation and stewardship.
We are so grateful for volunteers like these who help keep our park beautiful for the more than 400,000 visitors who enjoy it each year! 🌴
