๐Ÿ“–โœจ Dive into an epic story among the stars! Join Broward County Library Director Allison Grubbs this June for Director's Book Club, featuring engaging community book discussions on the June selection: Atmosphere by number 1 New York Times bestselling author Taylor Jenkins Reid.

Set against the backdrop of the 1980s space shuttle program, the story follows Joan Goodwin, a reserved professor of physics and astronomy at Rice University. After applying to join NASAโ€™s space shuttle program as one of the first female scientists, she began training at Houstonโ€™s Johnson Space Center alongside a unique group of candidates. As the trainees form close bonds, Joan discovers unexpected love and passion before a December 1984 mission changes everything in an instant.

The event officially kicked off Broward County Library's 2026 Summer Learning Program: "Unearth a Story," proudly funded and supported by the Broward Public Library Foundation. Families registered for the Summer Reading Challenge, picked up free books, and dove into a day full of magic shows, cultural dances, STEAM activities, and fire truck painting! ๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿฆ–

๐Ÿ“š Join the Juneteenth Experience Community Workshop with Broward County Library As part of Hued Songsโ€™ performance residency with the African American Research Library and Cultural Center, this free, hands-on workshop invites participants of all ages and backgrounds to engage with the themes of Juneteenth. Facilitated by Hued Songs teaching artists, this intergenerational experience is grounded in the belief that art-making belongs to everyone. Attendees will create, reflect, and connect in a shared space, leaving with a deeper connection to the themes of Black joy, creativity, and belonging.

The "Unearth a Story" Summer Learning Program is here, June through August 8 to take children, teens, and families on an inspiring journey of discovery and learning across all Broward County Libraries. This immersive program plays a vital role in preventing the "summer slide," a critical period where students can lose up to two months of reading and math skills over the summer months.

Your gift makes hundreds of learning opportunities possible this summer. Contributions ensure that our community has access to educational programs that sharpen critical thinking and stimulate young minds. By donating today, you fund meaningful awards, exciting learning challenges, and educational workshops that help youth expand their horizons and build essential literacy skills.

โ€ข$50 will provide ten children with books of their own to read over the summer and years to come
โ€ข$100 will provide a collaborative intergenerational art workshop from the Arty Van Gogh mobile art bus
โ€ข$300 will provide six grand prizes to motivate teens to read more throughout the summer
โ€ข$500 will provide three hands-on STEAM workshops for preschoolers presented by Mad Science of Palm Beach and Broward County, FL

๐Ÿฆ– Join the Broward County Library for DinoNite @ Main Library for the exclusive unveiling of a top-secret project that has brought prehistoric life back to life! While safety measures are fully in place, guest assistance might just be needed if something goes awry.

Doors open at 5:30 PM, and the main presentation kicks off in the auditorium at 5:40 PM.

This program is designed for children ages 7 and up. The event will feature loud noises, flashing lights, and a cartoony scary moment, so sensitive participants may wish to take caution.

Stomp, chomp, and explore the world of dinosaurs! Young paleontologists will discover fascinating facts about how dinosaurs lived and how they were built for survival. Presented by the Museum of Discovery and Science (MODS), whose mission is to connect people to inspiring science. This hands-on workshop lets participants use their imagination and design skills to build a custom dinosaur. Will it be a towering herbivore, a speedy predator, or a brand-new species?
