📚✨ Books & Bites returns this fall with a special afternoon featuring local author Jan Cress Dondi (The Navigator's Letter) and the remarkable true story behind her USA TODAY bestselling book, The Navigator's Letter.

A Fort Lauderdale resident and veteran litigation paralegal, Dondi spent 15 years conducting rigorous archival research and legal writing to bring this history to light. Her journey began with a mission to uncover her family's deep ties to World War II, specifically the perilous Allied campaign against the oilfields of Ploesti, Romania.

Her extensive work led to the discovery of hundreds of wartime letters written by her father, Bob, and her uncle, John B., alongside a POW diary. Corroborated by thousands of records from U.S. and German national archives and field research spanning Romania, Germany, and England, The Navigator's Letter captures the extraordinary courage, sacrifice, and determination of two young airmen during one of the war's most dangerous missions.

Join Broward County Library for a three-day workshop designed to build confidence in storytelling and public speaking. Participants will develop their narratives in English, Spanish, or Haitian Creole, culminating in an opportunity to showcase their talent during the Community Storytelling Contest. Refreshments will be served during the final presentation.
