Those were the words spoken to U.S. forces on the eve of The Battle of Normandy Beach, June 6th, 1944. It has become known as D-Day and "The beginning of the end of World War II". More than 155,000 troops stormed the 50 mile stretch of beach that pivotal morning. By days end, 4414 allied forces made the ultimate sacrifice.

Today, we thank them for their sacrifice and remember The Longest Day.

Thank you, Marty, for taking the time to visit with our Executive Board and for your continued commitment to supporting law enforcement professionals. Partnerships and open dialogue with community leaders help strengthen our profession and the communities we proudly serve.

Today, members of the Fort Lauderdale Police Union were honored to attend the 2nd Annual Broward FOP - Fraternal Order of Police District 5 Heroes Award Luncheon, recognizing the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of law enforcement officers, elected officials, and prosecutors across Broward County during Police Week 2026.

We are especially proud to congratulate Fort Lauderdale Police Department Officer Robert Morris on receiving the Broward FOP Courage Award. Officer Morrisโ€™ actions reflect the very meaning of courage under pressure and the unwavering commitment our officers demonstrate in service to this community every day.

Events like this are an important reminder that behind every badge is a person willing to step forward when others cannot. We thank the Broward FOP for hosting such a meaningful event and for continuing to recognize the heroes who serve with honor.
