ROLISA DIES CROSSING TOBAGO HIGHWAY
Tobago police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of 24-year-old Rolisa Cooke.
Cooke of Hampden Road in Lowlands, was killed on Friday night while attempting to cross the Claude Noel Highway.
Police were told that at about 7:45 p.m. a 25-year-old man from Bucco Road was driving a black Volkswagen Jetta Sedan in a westerly direction along the highway, when upon reaching the vicinity of Augustine and Beacon, he observed the silhouette of a person in the middle of the highway.
He said that at the time, there was oncoming traffic proceeding east.
He attempted to pull his car away from Cooke, however, despite his efforts, he still struck the 24-year-old.
The driver stopped his car and notified the police and paramedics.
A team of officers led by Sgt Jones, Sgt Horsford, Cpl Abraham, and Cpl Scipio responded.
Cooke died on the scene
The driver was warned that he may face prosecution pending the outcome of enquiries.
W/Cpl Ewing is continuing enquiries.
This incident has pushed the number of road deaths in this country up to 75.
The comparative for the same period last year was 67.
