81 years young. A new career. A new purpose.

Jeffrey wasn’t ready to let age define what came next.

After facing employment barriers, he completed Peer Specialist training and earned certifications in Depression Awareness, CPR, Mental Health First Aid, and more.

But two obstacles remained: a required background check and work attire.

𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧.

By covering those final needs, SCS helped Jeffrey turn his training into an opportunity.

Today, he’s putting his experience to work as an Outreach Representative with Prodigy House.

Last year, BBX Capital Foundation supported Second Chance Society's Healing Forward initiative, which supports the mental and emotional well-being of men participating in Homes United.

Tomorrow, we gather for Fall Fellowship around one powerful idea: I Fit the Description.

Because at some point, we’ve all needed grace, support, or another opportunity.

Today, we begin our second cohort of RISE & REBUILD™, a two-day workforce readiness workshop offered in collaboration with Re-Entry One.

Over the next two days, participants will focus on workforce readiness, career exploration, résumé development, interviewing, digital and financial literacy, and connecting with employment opportunities.

RISE & REBUILD is part of Second Chance Society's Workforce Center, made possible through support from the Community Foundation of Broward.

This is what collaboration looks like: bringing the right resources, relationships, and opportunities together to help people prepare for what's next.

Second chances look like being ready when opportunity comes.
