Last Wednesday, Training Captain Mayor and Firefighter Doell attended the Public Safety Institute Fire/EMS Recruitment Day. 🚒

This event provides young adults interested in careers in fire and EMS an opportunity to learn about the profession, explore career paths, and connect with agencies from across the region. We enjoyed sharing information about Fort Lupton Fire and talking with the next generation of firefighters and EMS professionals.

We are always proud to support recruitment efforts and help inspire future public safety leaders.

When charging on a plane, keep portable charging devices on the tray table. Do not charge devices in overhead compartments and never charge e-cigarettes or vapes on a plane. If a battery overheats or fails, it is important for the flight crew to be able to respond quickly.

🔥 Structure Fire – 14th Street & Platte River Area 🔥

Just after 11:30 this morning, crews responded to a reported structure fire involving an outbuilding in the area of 14th Street and the Platte River.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a working fire in the outbuilding that had extended through the roof. Crews quickly went to work and were able to contain the fire to the building of origin, preventing it from spreading to nearby structures.

Because the area does not have fire hydrants, crews utilized water tenders to shuttle water to the scene and maintain an adequate water supply for firefighting operations. A special thank you to Hudson Fire for providing a water tender and assisting our crews with water supply operations.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

Preliminary findings indicate the fire was caused by an unattended outdoor stove.

🔥 Please remember to never leave outdoor cooking or heating equipment unattended. A small fire can quickly become a large fire, especially around outbuildings, vegetation, and other combustible materials.

Stay safe and stay fire-aware.

Stop using your device right away if the battery smells strange, is warm to the touch, makes popping noises, changes in shape or color, or if you see smoke. If it is safe, move the device away from anything that can catch fire. A damaged battery can overheat and start a fire.
