As the sun rises over the Big Bend Project this morning, we're reminded that sometimes the best way to start the day is to slow down and enjoy the view!

Please join us in congratulating our outstanding powerhouse mechanics on receiving the District Operations and Maintenance Team Award earlier today!

The Big Bend Project Powerhouse Maintenance Mechanic Team—composed of Rory Bishop, Levi Bollinger, Matt Eymer, Dustin Rodriguez, and Troy Lorensen—are proudly recognized for exceptional initiative, craftsmanship, and unwavering commitment to safety.

The Team recognized critical safety hazards within the Big Bend Powerhouse and Spillway, the team engineered, fabricated, and installed custom shaft guards with superior precision and efficiency. Through proactive problem-solving, technical mastery, and seamless collaboration, this crew eliminated severe machinery risks, significantly bolstered operational reliability, and established a benchmark for hazard mitigation across the project.

Their dedication to workplace safety and maintenance excellence directly protects workforce personnel and ensures the long-term safety of the facility. The distinctive accomplishments of this team reflect great credit upon themselves, the Big Bend Project, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Their hard work often happens behind the scenes, but their contributions are essential to keeping Big Bend operating safely and efficiently.

This recognition is well-deserved, and we couldn’t be prouder to have these talented guys representing the Big Bend Project.

Two Truths and a Lie - Big Bend Edition

Can you spot the lie? 🤔

A. Lake Sharpe has 57,000 surface acres of water.

B. Each October, Natural Resource Specialists channel their inner Bob Ross and paint the happy little trees of the Big Bend Project in fall colors.

C. The waters directly below Big Bend Dam, known as the tailrace, are incredibly popular for shore-angling. The churning from the powerhouse creates ad nutrient-rich environment that draws massive schools of baitfish and game-fish alike.
