Flint Energies has officially welcomed its fourth annual EMPOWER Rural Regional Youth Leadership class!

This year, 43 high school juniors from multiple counties are stepping up to discover what it truly means to be a leader. Over the next eight months, these students will dive into their personal strengths, explore servant leadership, and learn how to make a difference in rural Georgia.

Throughout the program, they will design impact projects for their home counties, explore Georgia’s agritourism, and head to the State Capitol to see government in action. Students will learn about leadership from a distinctly community-focused perspective. Guided by high school senior mentors from last year's class, these students are gaining practical tools for college, the workplace, and everyday life.

A question concerning GA HB 1555 was recently submitted by a local resident on the Peach County Discussion Page. A screenshot featuring the original post with the accompanying response is included below.

The Development Authority of Peach County would like to offer corrections to the statements issued.

1. GA HB1555 de-annexed GA State Route Highway 96 and Housers Mill Road back to the original city limits of Fort Valley.
2. GA HB 1555 does not legislate any redistribution of funds or concern itself with a tri-county consortium, more commonly known as a Joint Development Authority
3. Peach County did agree to enter into a Joint Development Authority with Houston and Macon-Bibb County for the purpose of recruiting regional impact projects. The potential revenues from the location of Company/Project on the site would be distributed among the counties in exchange for investments made by the three counties for a specified period of time.
4. The bill did not remove Fort Valley from the equation. Fort Valley will still receive a share of the revenues.
5. These lands were never in the city limits of Fort Valley, and the infrastructure is owned and managed by the Fort Valley Utility Commission, of which GA HB 1555 further recognizes.
6. GA SR 96 has been in the planning stages since as early as 2010, prior to Governor Kemp taking office and prior to the Mega Site being imagined.
