Alert: Peach All Hazards

A strong thunderstorm will impact portions of west central Peach and central Crawford Counties through 845 PM EDT
Special Weather Statement issued October 10 at 8:09PM EDT by NWS Peachtree City GA
At 809 PM EDT, National Weather Service doppler radar indicated a
strong thunderstorm over Lee Pope, or near Fort Valley, moving north
at 35 mph.

HAZARD...40 to 50 mph wind and increased chance of a brief tornado.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...While winds should result in minor damage to tree limbs and
blowing around of light, unsecured objects, this storm has
also exhibited localized rotation. A brief tornado could
quickly form.

Locations impacted include...
Roberta, Knoxville, Nakomis, Lee Pope, Sandy Point, Horns, and
Musella.
People outdoors should seek shelter immediately.

Hurricane Isaias will be making landfall around 10 p.m. along the Gulf Coast bringing outer bands to our area overnight and tomorrow. Peach County is expected to receive heavy rainfall with wind gust in the 30-40 mph range. Tomorrow will bring a heightened tornado risk throughout the day.

WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 11 PM EDT SATURDAY
Wind Advisory issued October 9 at 10:59AM EDT until October 10 at 11:00PM EDT by NWS Peachtree City GA
* WHAT...East winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph expected.

* WHERE...Portions of central, east central, north central,
northeast, and west central Georgia.

* WHEN...From midnight tonight to 11 PM EDT Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree
limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.
Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

* WHERE...Portions of central, east central, north central,
northeast, northwest, southeast, and west central Georgia,
including the following areas, in central Georgia, Baldwin, Bibb,
Bleckley, Butts, Crawford, Crisp, Dodge, Dooly, Houston, Jasper,
Jones, Laurens, Monroe, Montgomery, Peach, Pulaski, Putnam,
Telfair, Twiggs, Wheeler, Wilcox and Wilkinson. In east central
Georgia, Emanuel, Glascock, Greene, Hancock, Jefferson, Johnson,
Taliaferro, Treutlen, Warren, Washington and Wilkes. In north
central Georgia, Barrow, Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Dawson, DeKalb,
Douglas, Fannin, Fayette, Forsyth, Gilmer, Gwinnett, Hall, Henry,
Lumpkin, Morgan, Newton, North Fulton, Pickens, Rockdale, South
Fulton, Union and Walton. In northeast Georgia, Banks, Clarke,

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Hurricane Isaias is expected to bring rounds of heavy rainfall to
the area late Friday through early Sunday. Widespread totals of 1
to 3 inches are expected with localized amounts of 5 inches. With
high rainfall rates and the potential for repeated rounds of
heavy rain in bands, flash flooding is expected. The locations
most at risk are poor drainage and urban areas, as well as creeks
and streams prone to flash flooding.
