RAIN OR SHINE… WE WALK. ️
I’ve been watching the weather forecast, and I’ll admit—it doesn’t look great.
I found myself thinking, What should we do? Should we have a contingency plan? The rain is going to make things so inconvenient.
And then I stopped.
I thought about the survivors we serve every single day.
I thought about the woman who doesn’t have transportation and walks to and from work because she has no other choice. She can’t call her employer and say, “It’s raining, so I can’t make it today.”
Rain or shine, she walks.
I thought about the mom whose child is sick and who must walk to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription.
Rain or shine, she walks.
I thought about the mom who walks her children to the bus stop every morning and is there again every afternoon to bring them home.
Rain or shine, she walks.
For so many survivors, “inconvenient” doesn’t mean changing plans. It means finding a way. It means putting one foot in front of the other when life is already hard. It means doing what has to be done because there simply isn’t another option.
And that reminded me exactly why we walk.
So tomorrow, RAIN OR SHINE, WALK A MILE IN HER SHOES® IS ON!
To every sponsor who has stood behind us, every person who purchased a ticket, every team that signed up, and everyone who has supported this event—we hope you’ll put on your shoes, grab a raincoat/poncho, and WALK with us.
And if you haven’t registered yet, there’s still time to join us!
Of course, if weather conditions become dangerous, the safety of our participants, volunteers, and community will always come first, and we will make any necessary adjustments.
But a little rain?
We can walk through that.
Because tomorrow, we’re not just walking a mile.
We’re walking for HER.
RAIN OR SHINE. SEE YOU TOMORROW!
