Two hundred fifty years ago, a nation declared that all people are created equal.

Two hundred fifty years later, we’re still working to make that promise real.

As Latinos, we recognize that the history of this country is both inspiring and complicated. The founding of the United States opened the door to extraordinary ideals, but it was also rooted in the displacement of Indigenous peoples, the enslavement of Black Americans, and systems that excluded many communities from the freedoms being celebrated.

Acknowledging that history doesn’t diminish our country. It challenges us to live up to its highest ideals.

A caucus exists because democracy is strongest when every community has a voice at the table. Our role isn’t just to celebrate our nation’s progress. It’s to help shape what comes next.

The story of the United States is still being written.

May the next chapter reflect more justice, more representation, and more opportunity than the last.
