As a kid growing up in Cville, with parents working in the UVA medical system, we always took time to go see the Cavaliers play whenever we could Now that I’m in Texas, it’s not often that I get to see UVA games live. Trekked out to Dallas last night to watch play against . It was a great game to watch and see Coach Mox and the team put in work. Gonna be eyeing the next time any UVA comes to town. 🔶🔷🔶🔷

Memories got me missing Korea, my team, and the KATUSA snack bar. This was circa 2020, with SGT Lee finishing his time in the ROK Army and getting a group photo before heading out. Wonder what this dude is up to these days.

Military service members are slated to a 4.5% raise beginning in January of 2025, with Junior Enlisted (E1-E4) seeing an additional 10% raise, beginning in April. This unprecedented raise is meant to decrease the gap between Junior Enlisted and the rest of the ranks. For context, I came into the Army as a SPC with a BS Degree in 2015:
SPC Mullinax circa 2015: $2,048/mo
SPC Mullinax circa 2016 w/ 18% raise: $2,088/mo
SPCs 2025: $3,015/mo
PVTs: $2,135-2309
17yo kids are with a HS Diploma or GED can now come in and make more than I did with a degree at 22yo. While money isn’t the only driving factor for military service, it is nice to have a steady income, especially in active service, and the prospectus of promotions and annual raises that continually increase that number, and when life costs are minimal.
If you’re ready to start making that secured income, hmu today!

I was going to avoid the obligatory Veteran’s Day post, but my niece, being the awesome sauce she is, did a project for school showing some of the veterans in our family (I only got included because I was in the photo with my uncle at my grandfather’s funeral, I understand what today is for). Four generations of military, of which my brother, other uncles, and cousins also served, and we ain’t tired of it yet 😅. Additionally, because we are an Amerinadian household, we celebrate Canada’s Remembrance Day and honor Canadian Veterans for their service by wearing a red poppy flower, representing Flanders Field (poem about WWI).
Happy Veterans and Remembrance Day to all the US and Canadian Veterans! 🇺🇸 🇨🇦

Another day, another college fair, another opportunity to discuss how the US Army can help high school students with their future goals. The common misconception is that you have to make a choice. However, myself and are both examples of how you can achieve both. We both entered the Army with a Bachelor’s Degree and are both currently pursuing our Master’s while working full time in uniform. I’ve even been blessed to maintain a 4.0 through 4 courses! So to all the students, stop by our table to discuss how we can help you.

Last week I had the opportunity to TDY to Abilene and Stephenville, to conduct UAs for the unit. What’s not known is that Abilene is a special place for me and my family. 65/66 years prior to me being in Abilene for work, my grandparents met on the campus of . I was lucky enough to stop by the campus on my way out of town and see the alumni wall, and found their names for the 1957 and 1958 classes. Without Dorothy Stone and George Mullinax, there is no SSG Mully, and while they have since passed on, I will always consider myself lucky to have had them into my adult life, and that they got to see me and my brother excel in our Army careers.
