At yesterday's City Council meeting, Councilman Charlie Lauersdorf and I honored U.S. Marine Corps World War II veteran, Corporal Don Graves. Not only did we celebrate his upcoming 101st birthday, Council also unanimously voted to rename the Northpark YMCA to the Corporal Don Graves YMCA Community Center! A fitting legacy to this American hero and patriot in our community.

“I love this country, and I love that blessed flag, and I love you people,” said Graves, a Marine veteran who fought on Iwo Jima in World War II. “I think I’ll go for 105.”
