On this solemn occasion of Memorial Day, we gather to honor and remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our great nation. As we pay tribute to their unwavering dedication, let us also take a moment to reflect on the invaluable contributions of a group of heroes whose commitment to duty has shaped our history.

Last weekend, Alpha Company held a Change of Command Ceremony between CPT Briana Adam and the incoming commander, CPT John Maher. We are thankful for CPT Adam’s steadfast service and dedication to Alpha Company and to the 949th BSB. We also want to give CPT Maher and his family a warm welcome to the battalion!

Warhorse Battalion had a very eventful weekend in the field! We went down to Fort Hood to take part in some great training and got to recognize several Soldiers along the way. This week, we’ll be taking time to recognize those promotions, awards given, and changes of command.

Today we remember the selfless service and sacrifice of the 2,335 Americans killed and 1,143 wounded during the attack on Pearl Harbor 81 years ago today, catapulting the United States into World War II. Today, we honor their memory and ultimate sacrifice.

Friends and family of Warhorse battalion, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of one of our own, Captain Justin Clint Zielinski of Headquarters and Headquarters Company.

Captain Zielinski is survived by his wife of nineteen years, Kimberly, his two children, Zane and Zara, his parents Kenneth and Merla Zielinski, and his sister Desiree Zielinski.

Justin proudly served as our Battalion Intelligence Officer and was a credit to the Military Intelligence community.

We had the solemn privilege to honor his memory today at a unit memorial service. We are thankful for his dedication and service to our nation and to the state of Texas, and we are grateful to his family for their love and sacrifice.
