Diandra Borrero is a regional organizer with Powered by People, overseeing West DFW — a region that covers everything between Tarrant county and Palo Pinto county. Diandra will tell us how relational organizing and peer-to-peer outreach is making a marked difference in Texas political engagement, where voter suppression continues to be a harsh reality.

Powered by People was launched in late 2019 and comprises thousands of volunteers who are running the largest progressive voter mobilization effort in Texas history. This powerful hybrid PAC was founded by Beto O’Rourke (“Action is the antidote to despair and the key to victory.”) shortly after his presidential campaign and emphasizes small donations, transparency and personal connection.

You’ll love our guest speaker. Native Texas Steve Maxwell is a partner with Bailey & Galyen, board certified in personal injury trial law. Many of us know him as a trusted community leader. He has served as an elected director of the State Bar of Texas and was honored by the Tarrant County Bar Association with their Professionalism Award.

Steve has served as past chairman of the Tarrant County Democratic Party and continues to serve as a delegate to the Texas Democratic Convention. He plays close attention to what happens in our county, state and national politics through a legal lens.
