Hearts Foundation Intro
The Hearts Foundation, Inc., is dedicated to providing comprehensive mental health services to survivors of trauma including human trafficking, sexual assault, physical abuse and domestic violence. We provide services to ALL survivors of trauma regardless of age, gender and religious affiliation. Additionally, we provide services to family members of missing persons. Traum
a impacts the whole family and no one is left un-served. Our goal is to raise awareness of the prevalence of human trafficking in the United States. This is not a third world issue, it is happening in our own backyards. The research found that 740 girls under age 18 were documented being marketed for sex during a 30-day period in Texas, of whom 712 of these girls were being marketed through Internet classified web sites and 28 were being marketed through escort services. According to the FBI, the average girl becomes involved in sexual exploitation between 12 and 14, and that some 293,000 American youths are at risk of becoming victims of sex trafficking. We aim to educate the community about the prevalence of this horrific crime as well as educate first responders on identifying signs of trafficking. Our Founder and Executive Director, Dr. Beatrix Wagner has over 15 years of experience working with survivors of severe trauma. She has worked as a sexual assault first responder within a hospital setting providing immediate assessment and crisis counseling to survivors of assault and their families. Over the years she has helped countless individuals regain hope, self-esteem, rebuild relationships and plan for the future. Her passion and down-to-earth nature helps survivors feel comfortable and safe. Our Community Outreach Director has worked directly with survivors of child abuse and has seen first hand the psychological and physical pain. Her passion and tireless efforts to bring awareness to the hidden epidemic of human trafficking are unsurpassed. She is driven to helping ALL survivors meet their needs, support them in all aspects of recovery and link them to adjunct services.
