If you love the craft of photography, take the time to enter the Texas Bank and Trust 44th Annual Photography Exhibit and Competition. It stands open to every Texas resident and offers a cash purse, but the greater reward is the chance for any photographer, rich or poor, to see their work professionally exhibited on equal ground.
This year’s juror is Community Food Bank Advisory Board member Gerald Kern who’s documented the lives of thousands of food bank clients over the years with his award winning photographic documentary work. He has also designated the Community Food Bank as the agency that receives the daily excess catering from Paramount, Studio 101, and the Taylor Sheridan productions. The meals from Frisco Kings, Landman, Lioness, Dutton Ranch, the Madison and others move through the food bank and into the hands of the CFB through its outreach programs. It is not unusual to see people connected to these productions volunteering quietly in the warehouse without seeking attention.
The competition is blind juried. No names. No identifiers. Every image rises or falls on its own merit. This exhibition has changed lives. A seasoned professional and a person living on the street with a cell phone stand on the same starting line. The lens does not care who you are. The truth is always in the frame.
For anyone indigent needing help with expenses of entering the exhibition portion, reach out directly Gerald.
Great art begins where excuses end.
