We are so proud of our Battle of the Books teams that competed in the district competition at TCU last week. Thank you to the teams, coaches, and librarians for all of your hard work! π

We want to recognize our 2026 retirees. Thank you for your years of dedication to our students.
Our final retiree is Karen Hampton.
Ms. Hampton is a native of Fort Worth, graduated from TCU, and is a third-generation teacher in her family. She has two children, two grandchildren, and two cats. She has been teaching at SHM for twenty- four years. She stated, βThe first time I visited SHM, I knew this was where I wanted to teach!β She has taught kindergarten, first grade, and second grade, and says she has been blessed to work with some of her best friends. Ms. Hampton states that she will always cherish her SHM memories! Ms. Hampton is known for her witty humor which will be missed throughout the building. Please join us this May in celebrating Ms. Hampton on retirement!
We want to take a moment to honor our district teacher of the year finalist, Luis Ortiz. Thank you for representing South Hi Mount at the district level. We are so proud! πππ
