Okay Arlington! It's time to vote tomorrow! πŸƒ

TCDP has exactly *one* endorsed candidate within Tarrant County who has gone to a run off, and this race couldn't be more important! Dr. Jason Shelton is an outstanding candidate running in a city-wide seat and he's running against a strong Republican - we need to get our guy over the finish line.

Make a plan to vote! And if you don't live in Arlington, you can still help out! Find his links to donate or volunteer below πŸ‘‰

After reviewing the official affidavits of the incident and conferring with voter protection experts around the state we are releasing this statement of an illegal, violent, and wholly unnecessary incident which occurred at a Tarrant County polling location as polls were set to open on Tuesday morning.

We extend tremendous gratitude to our poll workers and advocates who worked through the day to ensure voters had fair and undisturbed access to their ballots on election day, despite such a jarring start.

We strongly urge all Texans to support our poll workers and reduce the election denying rhetoric which leads to threats to the physical safety of our poll workers. We humbly ask poll workers to continue their incredible and arduous work with patience and perseverance and to not let high-emotion situations lead to physical violence. And we are deeply grateful for all those poll workers who serve every election with distinction. It is an incredibly hard, underpaid, and thankless job.

All voters and poll workers deserve to feel safe as they head to the polls in November. Help us make that a reality.

In yet another stunning (but not surprising) display of gutless deference to the party's most extreme outliers, the Fort Worth ISD Board of Directors and our most MAGA SBOE officials have taken a fanatic's racist, xenophobic, and Islamophobic tweets and actioned on them less than a day after he hit send.

On May 25, Twitter "influencer" Carlos Turcios shared these screen shots of Ms. Alzubi's social media profile and used them as evidence to say she was unfit for the job. The next day, SBOE members had "called for an investigation" and the FWISD Board of Directors had "reassigned" her.

This is absolutely outrageous and cannot be tolerated. Ms. Alzubi is a longtime educator and truly every single student and teacher who knows her has professed glowing praise. The school would have been lucky to have had her at its helm, and moving her from the position is a disservice to her incredible experience and dedication, and to her students.

Let's be clear. These apparently outrageous screen shots detail a woman who is concerned about the welfare and safety of her community, about limiting the spread of a deadly disease which killed over a million Americans, and about gently helping educate a county which deeply needs to better understand and get away from dangerous false rhetoric.

Unfortunately, as Greg Abbott has led us into an unmitigated power grab when it comes to our largest school districts in Texas, the only way to undo this travesty is to vote the current Governor out of office. He controls the Commissioner of the Texas Education Agency, which takes over and destroys public schools at the beck and call of Abbott's billionaire donors. He controls what happens to experienced educators like Shayma Alzubi. He controls what happens to our kids.

For Ms. Alzubi, please, please vote on November 3rd for every Democrat on that ballot.

This is unacceptable.
